Canada Visit Visa from Pakistan
A Canada visit visa from Pakistan is officially a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Pakistani passport holders generally need one before travelling to Canada for tourism, a family or friends visit, a short business trip or medical treatment. You apply online to IRCC, pay the government fee, give biometrics at a visa application centre and wait for a decision. Hashim Visa Consultancy, based in Faisalabad, can help with practical support around your application and explains how the IRCC process works. We are not an embassy or a government body, and the decision rests with IRCC. To talk to us.
What a Canada Visit Visa Covers
A Canada visitor visa lets you enter Canada for a temporary stay. It is issued for purposes such as:
For a business trip, IRCC says you must qualify as a business visitor: you plan to stay for less than six months, you do not plan to enter the Canadian labour market, and your main place of business and source of income are outside Canada.
A visitor visa is not a work permit, and it does not lead to permanent residence. Joining family in Canada on a long-term basis is a different route with different rules, so check IRCC’s guidance for that route before you apply. Parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents may be able to apply for a Super Visa, a separate IRCC category that this page does not cover.
Key Facts at a Glance

| Official name | Visitor visa, also called a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) |
|---|---|
| Who needs it | Most travellers need one. Pakistani passport holders generally do; IRCC’s tool confirms what you need for your travel document. |
| Government fee | CAD 100 per person |
| Biometrics fee | CAD 85 per person |
| Validity | A visa officer decides whether to issue a single-entry or multiple-entry visa and how long it is valid. Generally up to 10 years, or until your passport or biometrics expire, whichever comes first. |
| Length of stay | Most visitors can stay up to 6 months. A border services officer decides each time you enter, and the date on the visa is the date by which you must arrive. |
| Processing time | Depends on the visa office and on any extra steps. IRCC publishes estimates in its processing times tool. |
What the Visa Officer Assesses
IRCC sets out the basic requirements for a visitor visa. In summary, you must:
- Have a valid travel document, such as a passport
- Be in good health and have no criminal or immigration-related convictions
- Convince the officer that you have ties, such as a job, home, financial assets or family, that will take you back to Pakistan
- Convince the officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your visit
- Have enough money for your stay
IRCC says the money you need depends on how long you stay and whether you stay in a hotel or with friends or relatives, so we do not quote a fixed bank balance. IRCC’s guidance on the bank account statement asks for at least six months of account details, including balances. Depending on your case you may also need a medical exam and a letter of invitation from someone who lives in Canada.
A short, consistent file is easier to assess than a large one that does not add up. Names, dates, addresses and amounts should agree across the application form, your supporting documents and any invitation from a host in Canada. IRCC says an incomplete application may be refused, so upload every document on your checklist. Submit only genuine documents: false or borrowed financial evidence can lead to a refusal and a period during which you cannot apply.
Applying from Pakistan
IRCC requires you to apply online, through the IRCC Portal or an IRCC secure account. Paper applications are accepted only in specific situations. The portal gives you a personalised document checklist, and your passport should be valid for at least six months from the date you plan to travel, so renew it before you apply if you need to. After you apply, wait for your biometrics instruction letter and book your appointment as soon as you can. In Pakistan, visa application centres operate in Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore, so applicants from Faisalabad should plan travel for that step. Apply well before your travel date, and avoid paying for non-refundable flights or hotels until the visa is issued.

Questions worth asking any consultant
- Is there a physical office you can visit?
- If they charge for advice or for handling your application, are they an authorised representative? IRCC explains how to choose a representative.
- Do they explain in writing what they will and will not do?
- Do they separate government fees from their own fee?
- Do they avoid promising a visa?
- Do they make clear that you can apply to IRCC yourself?
These are fair questions to put to us as well.
